(Sung to the tune of Starry Starry Night by Don McLean)

Scary, scary sight.
Paint the budget red today,
Look out on a summer’s day,
With eyes that know they’ll never get it right.

More debt is on the way,
Spend tomorrow’s cash today,
They don’t know another way
Since they all think that money grows on trees.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How we suffer their insanity,
How you tried to make them see.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they’ll listen now.

Scary, scary sight.
Raise those taxes they all say.
It’s never worked before today,
since there’s only so much that we all can pay.

Arnold made a speech.
Told us all it’s not that bad,
Now we all feel we’ve been had,
By an actor who is acting bad.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How we suffer their insanity,
How you tried to make them see.
They would not listen, they did not know how.
Perhaps they’ll listen now.

For they do not like you,
But still your words were true.
And since there was no hope in sight
For this scary, scary sight,
We wonder if there’s anything to do.
But I could have told you,
Those we elected just don’t care about what affects me and you.

Scary, scary sight.
Bills were passed in hallowed halls,
Feckless speakers said it all,
With lies they hoped the world would never get.
But they’re not finished yet,
We’ve been sold down a rocky road
Most have no idea just what’s owed,
‘cause no one knew just how far they would go.

Now I understand what you tried to say to me,
How we suffer their insanity,
How you tried to make them see.
They would not listen, they’re not listening still.
We know they never will…
